The Orange-Bellied Parrot lives in very small areas of Australia, and Australia only. The scientific name for Orange-Bellied Parrots is Neophema chrysogaster. There are only around 14 left in the wild population. There are approximately 30 left in the world.
Habitat
The Orange-Bellied Parrots (OBP's) live mainly on the coastal areas of Tasmania, in the South West Wilderness World Heritage Area. The parrots breed in this area during summer, and during the colder months, they migrate north towards the southern parts of Victoria and South Australia to the salt marshes and swamps. The most significant site found for OBP habitats in the far South West is The Yambuk Wetlands.
