There are mainly only two threats to the Orange-Bellied Parrots.
The biggest threat is deforestation. This is because the birds will always return to the same range to live as the year before, and if that area's trees have been cut down, or the grasses have been built over, it means that the parrots do not know where to go. The other main threat is the drainage of wetlands for grazing. This affects the parrots majorly as they return to the wetlands every year to feed on the salt plants, and when they come to find that it is no longer a wetland, they have nowhere to go in search for food.
